It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bothell had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over the Battle Ground Tigers. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Bothell to victory were Mylez Welch and Carlin Gochnour. Welch gained 151 total yards, while Gochnour picked up 123 receiving yards and one TD. Those 123 receiving yards gave Gochnour a new career-high.
Loss or not, Battle Ground got some senior leadership from Trent Richardson and Ethan Adams. Richardson picked up 155 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while Adams threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Adams' passing game has become a key predictor of the Tigers' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise.
Bothell's record now sits at 7-2. As for Battle Ground, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
