It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Needville had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They never let the Jones Trojans get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Bluejays have won 17 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Dees looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Josey Cantu was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kourtney Carter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Needville lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Needville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jones, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.
Needville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
