Chatfield is 9-1 against Bear Creek since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Chargers will welcome the Bears at 11:00 a.m. Chatfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Chatfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Valor Christian 12-2 on Thursday. With that victory, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Chatfield gave Evan Novotny the start and clearly made the right call: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Novotny is becoming a predictor of the Chargers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Brady Harman was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Keir Traurig was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Chatfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Arvada West, falling 10-4.
Brandon Adams-Anders was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Matt Hegerle, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Chatfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chatfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bear Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chatfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Bear Creek in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 10-7. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
