The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will face off against the Sumner Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wesley Chapel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, it was close, but Wesley Chapel sidestepped Cypress Creek for a 4-3 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jazmin Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Wesley Chapel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall McCants, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Wesley Chapel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sumner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Robinson with a sharp 16-4 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Stingrays, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Sumner got a massive performance out of Karlee Salisbury, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits Salisbury has posted since back in February. Sa'Myra Cameron was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Sumner has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wesley Chapel, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wesley Chapel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wesley Chapel skirted past Sumner 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stingrays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
