The Bishop Watterson Eagles will take on the Bishop Hartley Hawks at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Bishop Watterson fell victim to Liberty Union and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Hartley). They were the clear victors by a 24-8 margin over Reynoldsburg on Tuesday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Chelsea Gautier (2027) and Jasmine Wooten (2027) did most of the damage at the plate: Gautier (2027) went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Wooten (2027) got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Gautier (2027) is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Khloe Lovell (2027) was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Bishop Hartley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive games.
Bishop Watterson dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bishop Hartley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Bishop Watterson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bishop Hartley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bishop Watterson suffered a grim 17-8 defeat to Bishop Hartley in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
