Belleview and Williston are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Rattlers will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Belleview has given up an average of 28.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Belleview's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against The Villages Charter on Friday. They were outmatched by the Buffalo and fell 40-0. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Buffalo are ranked 90th).
Meanwhile, Williston came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over the Celtics. Considering the Red Devils have won three games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Williston's win came from a few key players Belleview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was J'Dyen Manneh, who rushed for 126 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Those 126 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kameryn Manneh, who rushed for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Williston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 381 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Williston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as William Whitehurst Jr, Maverick Jones, and Danny Burchett picked up one apiece. Burchett has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last ten times he's played.
Williston's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Belleview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Belleview has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 207 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 279.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Belleview was dealt a bruising 36-6 loss at the hands of Williston in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rattlers were down 36-0.
