Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, North Georgia should expect quite the challenge on Friday. It's a road trip for them as they take on Murphy at 7:30 PM. With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the victory.
Things could have been worse for North Georgia, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 8-28 loss to Lanier Christian Academy last week. North Georgia got a solid performance out of sophomore Chris Shirley, who rushed for 120 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Shirley's 60-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Murphy was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They were the clear victor with a 35-14 margin.
Murphy's win lifted them to 2-1 while North Georgia's defeat dropped them down to 0-2. In Murphy's victory, senior Slade McTaggart rushed for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns and junior Devonte Murray. We'll see if North Georgia have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
