Raytown is 1-9 against Truman since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bluejays are taking a road trip to take on the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. Raytown has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Raytown's last matchup with Chrisman could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Bluejays came up short against the Bears, falling 14-4. The Bluejays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Raytown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Terryberry, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was William Buckman, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Truman came tearing into Monday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Pirates.
Hayden Rogers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rogers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other pitching news, Cade Pleacher looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Reinhardt, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of McLane Graffeo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Raytown's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Truman, their record now sits at 20-13.
Raytown suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Truman when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
