Walton is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Camden County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Walton Raiders will take on the Camden County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Walton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully Camden County likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Walton rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 56-35 win. Considering Walton has won 12 games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Walton had a senior duo take command as Jeremy Hecklinski threw for 370 yards and three touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes and Makari Bodiford gained 141 total yards and four touchdowns. Hecklinski hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Hunter Teal, who picked up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Camden County and Mill Creek (ranked 35 and 40 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest. Camden County strolled past Mill Creek with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 39-20. Camden County's victory was all the more impressive since Mill Creek was averaging only 17 points allowed on the season.
Camden County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Laws, who rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Dailey, who rushed for 168 yards while picking up 10.5 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Walton to 13-0 and Carrollton to 11-2.
Everything went Walton's way against Camden County in their previous matchup back in November of 2018 as Walton made off with a 40-20 victory. Does Walton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Camden County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
