The Heritage Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-45 walloping at the hands of Chaparral. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Wolverines are ranked seventh).
When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Terch. Despite the final result, he scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hause, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Gavin Carter, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds for Chaparral. Carter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last six games he's played. Luke Howery was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three blocks.
Heritage has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Chaparral, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Regis Jesuit's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Chaparral, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ponderosa is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
