Volleyball Recap: Thomas More Prep-Marian's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Thomas More Prep-Marian unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Smith Center Redmen. Monarchs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Redmen since Saturday.

Thomas More Prep-Marian was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Smith Center work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 30-28, 25-16.

Nicole Schumacher paced Thomas More Prep-Marian's offense, picking up nine kills. Schumacher got some help from Bria Windholz and her eight assists. Windholz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Smith Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lillie Heiland led the charge by getting 17 digs and one assist.

Thomas More Prep-Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 22-13. As for Smith Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-13 record this season.

Thomas More Prep-Marian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Oakley on the 11th. As for Smith Center, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Great Bend on the 14th.
