The Hermon Hawks will challenge the Bangor Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hermon comes in on nine and Bangor on three.
Hermon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Nokomis, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Warriors on Monday. Considering the Hawks have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Rebecca Balmas was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Hermon let Sophie Peterson and Addy Waning run wild. Peterson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Waning got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Braelyn Wilcox was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bangor). They put the hurt on Mt. Ararat with a sharp 14-1 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Rams with their most commanding win of the season.
Sophie Lynch and Abby Folsom did most of the damage at the plate: Lynch went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run, while Folsom went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Adams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bangor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hermon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bangor, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hermon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bangor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hermon took their win against Bangor when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
