The Lenox Memorial Millionaires will square off against the Drury Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lenox Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Lenox Memorial is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Turners Falls on Friday. The Millionaires came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 7-4.
Seamus Cooney was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Cooney was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Cooney wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Hicks, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Meanwhile, Drury put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Wahconah Regional get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Lenox Memorial, Drury also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucas Rylander. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Rylander was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, Drury got a massive performance out of Julian Faliciano, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Faliciano is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Noah Arnold was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Drury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wahconah Regional only posted an OBP of .211.
Drury's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.7 runs this season. As for Lenox Memorial, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lenox Memorial has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Drury struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lenox Memorial couldn't quite get it done against Drury in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Millionaires avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
