After flying high against Portage Christian last Monday, the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks came back down to earth. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 57-42 to Calumet Christian. If Hammond Academy of Science & Tech hoped to take revenge for the 82-47 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the loss, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech still got an impressive performance from Jermaine Bartlett, who scored 24 points along with four steals. That was a full 57.1% of Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaylen Ridle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Brad Nymeyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Calumet Christian, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Nymeyer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Foutz, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Hammond Academy of Science & Tech has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Calumet Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Ellison at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Ellison will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Calumet Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge La Lumiere Blue at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in La Lumiere Blue's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
