While losing is never fun, Gamble Montessori can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Indians are ranked 143rd).
Meanwhile, DePaul Cristo Rey had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-18 win over Cincinnati College Prep Academy.
DePaul Cristo Rey's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nyeemah Pickens, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pickens has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Tubbs, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Gamble Montessori's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.
Gamble Montessori strolled past the in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 45-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gamble Montessori since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
