Kollin Sanchez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jorden Reid, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Chris Beckman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
May River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Bluffton entered their tilt with Colleton County on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cougars 10-2. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Dawson Kunze was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Henry Numssen was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Wolfe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
May River now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bluffton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. May River has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Bluffton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
May River beat Bluffton 12-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Do the Sharks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
