Even though the Morris Redskins have not done well against the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Morris walked away with a 67-56 win over Joliet Catholic. Given Morris' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Joliet Catholic is ranked 462nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joliet Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abby Dulinsky, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Birsa, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Morris' victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Joliet Catholic, they bumped their record down to 5-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Morris will head out on the road to challenge LaSalle-Peru at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. LaSalle-Peru is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Joliet Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Carmel at 7:00 p.m.
