Granville Christian Academy and Delaware Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Granville Christian Academy will head out to face off against Delaware Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Granville Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Granville Christian Academy fell victim to Newark Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Green Wave. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for Granville Christian Academy, who until this matchup were averaging 2.67 runs allowed.
Meanwhile, Delaware Christian came into Thursday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Northside Christian with a sharp 12-3 victory on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024 (when they won 12-1).
Andrew Yoby and Caden Beck made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Yoby didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Beck struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delaware Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-5 otherwise. At bat, Yoby went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Beck got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That RBI marked the first that Yoby has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Delaware Christian got a massive performance out of Cameron Green, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Green also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Paul Gaster, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Delaware Christian's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Granville Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-3 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Granville Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Delaware Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Granville Christian Academy's way against Delaware Christian in their previous meeting on April 7th, as Granville Christian Academy made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granville Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
