Homestead is a perfect 3-0 against Piedmont Hills since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Mustangs will welcome the Pirates at 1:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Homestead: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Piedmont Hills has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Homestead will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Palo Alto, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Vikings on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since May 1, 2024.

Homestead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arya Jangity, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Jangity a new career-high. Ajay Lohitsa was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Oak Grove with a sharp 10-0 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Travis Linane and Toby Torres made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Linane didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Torres pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Linane has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Linane went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Torres went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Torres is becoming a predictor of Piedmont Hills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Josh Gomez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Bustamante, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Piedmont Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Piedmont Hills is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Homestead skirted past Piedmont Hills 6-4 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
