The Berry Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Pickens Academy Pirates on Saturday. Berry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Berry not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8, 2025 (when they won 10-0). They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Curry. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Shaun Waltrip and Walker Edmonson were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Waltrip tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Edmonson tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Waltrip has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Waltrip got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Edmonson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Edmonson a new career-high.
In other batting news, Myles Woodfin and John Wesley Scarbrough did most of the damage at the plate: Woodfin went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Scarbrough got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Scarbrough has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lake Norris, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Berry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Pickens Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of University Charter.
Hudson Pennington and Dalton Crowe put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pennington tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crowe didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2025. At bat, Pennington got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI, while Crowe got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Kaden Craft was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Berry now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pickens Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Berry has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Pickens Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits.
