This season hasn't been kind to the Lowcountry Leadership NaviGators, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-22 walloping at the hands of St. John's on Friday. Lowcountry Leadership has struggled against St. John's recently, as their matchup on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
St. John's was led to victory by Daeshia Buford and Kaniya Smith. Buford scored 13 points along with eight steals, while Smith scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Thornley, who scored two points along with three steals.
Lowcountry Leadership bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.4 points per game. As for St. John's, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowcountry Leadership will take on Military Magnet Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Military Magnet Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for St. John's, they will head out on the road to face off against Charleston Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Charleston Math & Science comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
