After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crofton, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Homer with a sharp 69-49 win. With that victory, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge brought their scoring average up to 51.3 points per game.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was led to victory by Mallory Eriksen and Rena Rasmussen. Eriksen scored 18 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while Rasmussen dropped a double-double on 27 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lainey Schutte, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Homer's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexandra Albrecht, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. The game was Albrecht's third in a row with at least ten points. Janessa Overgaard was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Homer, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will head out on the road to face off against Tri County Northeast on Friday. Hopefully Tri County Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday. As for Homer, they will be playing at home against Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wynot presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Homer in Nebraska (Wynot is ranked 46th, while Homer is ranked 177th).
