Wells won the last time they faced Independence, and things went their way on Thursday, too. Wells made easy work of Independence and carried off a 58-32 victory. Not happy with the near-even 34-32 score at halftime, Wells made a real splash in the second half.
Wells started the game off right with 34 first-half points. Independence wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 32 to make it 34-32 heading into the break. Wells' offense just added to that total in the second half en route to their big win.
No one put up better numbers for Wells than senior Enrique Aguilar, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with 16 tackles Aguilar was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Sergio Soriano, who racked up 16 tackles. The win bumped Wells' record up to 4-2. The defeat dropped Independence's record to 1-4.
Wells will have some time to rest before their next matchup, which is against Carlin in two weeks at 7:00 PM. As for Independence, they will face off against Eureka.
