The Hubbard Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Harding Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hubbard is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Hubbard came up short against Lakeview and fell 49-36.
Despite their loss, Hubbard saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jillian Palumbo, who scored eight points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Palumbo is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cara Green, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Harding was handed a three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Garfield Community Learning Center on Monday. Harding was the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over Garfield Community Learning Center. Given Harding's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Garfield Community Learning Center is ranked 700th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hubbard has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Harding, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Hubbard was taken down by Harding 68-30 in their previous matchup back in December of 2015. Thankfully for Hubbard, Shymara Dykes (who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
