The Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions on the road again on Monday and play against the Florence Gophers at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Empire for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-11 victory on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-3.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Tabitha Orr, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Orr has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sedona Dietrich, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Florence can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They put the hurt on San Tan Foothills with a sharp 67-47 win. The victory was just what Florence needed coming off of a 53-32 loss in their prior contest.
Florence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Farmer led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Farmer scored 15 or more points. Keylee Scarbrough was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds.
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's record is now 9-7. Florence's record now sits at 7-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 34.5% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Florence, though, as they've only made 31.7% of their threes per game this season. Given Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Florence will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy against Florence when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 55-20 win.
