Shorecrest Prep has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Hollins Royals at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Shorecrest Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Wednesday, Shorecrest Prep had to suffer through a rough 54-18 loss at the hands of Manatee. Shorecrest Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.
Meanwhile, Hollins came up short against Indian Rocks Christian on Thursday and fell 36-25. Hollins has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Hollins saw an underclassman step up: Summer Morgan scored 11 points. That was a full 44% of Hollins' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Shorecrest Prep's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.3 points per game. As for Hollins, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Shorecrest Prep strolled past Hollins in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 35-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shorecrest Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
