The Spackenkill Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 46-38 to Onteora. Spackenkill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Onteora apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Spackenkill had strong showings from Blythe Mcquade, who scored 17 points along with five steals, and Maryclare Parker-stark, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 44.7% of Spackenkill's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Spackenkill dropped their record down to 5-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Onteora, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Spackenkill won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Saugerties at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Spackenkill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday. As for Onteora, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ellenville at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Onteora is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in New York (they are ranked 300th, while Ellenville is ranked 643rd).
