Even though the Cardinal Newman Crusaders scored an imposing 63 points on Monday, the Braddock Bulldogs still came out on top. Braddock slipped by Cardinal Newman 64-63. The win made it back-to-back wins for Braddock.
Braddock got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Markus Zenck out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Zenck also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Angel Lara, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Braddock is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Cardinal Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Braddock will be playing at home against Varela at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Newman won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Somerset College Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Somerset College Prep Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
