The Neuse Charter Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-38 walloping at the hands of North Duplin. Neuse Charter has struggled against North Duplin recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cayley Cochran, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Chloe Kozloff was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Addy Higginbotham, who scored 30 points for North Duplin. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Higginbotham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Outlaw, who scored 12 points.
Neuse Charter has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for North Duplin, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neuse Charter will take on Hobbton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 15 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for North Duplin, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
