This season hasn't been kind to the Samson Tigers, who are still winless after their 15th match. Their tough 82-60 loss to Malone on Friday might stick with them for a while. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Malone's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hoke Harkrider, who scored 25 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Welch, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Samson's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Malone, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Samson and Freeport will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Malone is on the road again on Thursday and play against Sneads at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Sneads presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Malone in Florida (Sneads is ranked 205th, while Malone is ranked 535th).
