Orofino and St. Maries are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Maniacs will be playing at home against the Lumberjacks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Orofino will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Orofino is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 41-4 margin over Priest River on Friday. Considering the Maniacs have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sady Olive made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Olive was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Orofino got a massive performance out of Paige Deyo, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Rilee Diffin, who went 4-for-7 with five runs, five RBI, and one double.
Orofino always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .582. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Priest River only posted an OBP of .261.
Meanwhile, St. Maries was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Timberlake. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lumberjacks have suffered since April 20, 2024.
Orofino's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.5 runs over those games. As for St. Maries, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orofino hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like St. Maries struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Orofino's way against St. Maries in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Orofino made off with an 18-2 win. Do the Maniacs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lumberjacks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
