They enjoyed a cozy 50-36 win over Young Americans Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lanier Christian Academy also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Leading Lanier Christian Academy to victory were Jia Thapar and Emma Flowers. Thapar scored 19 points along with two blocks, while Flowers dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 steals. Flowers has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Meav Fouts was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Young Americans Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence Shorter, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shorter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Scott, who scored nine points.
Lanier Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Young Americans Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.
Lanier Christian Academy on the road again on Thursday and play against The King's Academy at 6:45 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully The King's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Young Americans Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Skipstone Academy at 6:00 p.m. Skipstone Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
