Junction City has gone a perfect 6-0 against Bearden recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dragons will take on the Bears at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Junction City's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven games.
Junction City's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over Spring Hill. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Bears are ranked 138th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dakorey Larry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 104 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Jaxxon Caldwell was in the mix as well, providing Junction City with one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Junction City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 240 rushing yards in three consecutive games.
Junction City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Dakylan Hampton and Zamundrae Gray, who each picked up one interception apiece. Junction City received some extra help from Caldwell, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bearden, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against England on Friday by a score of 50-14 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.
Bearden's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Junction City, their record now sits at 9-1.
Everything came up roses for Junction City against Bearden when the teams last played back in October of 2020, as the team secured a 44-6 victory. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
