Forest has gone a perfect 6-0 against Buchholz recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Forest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lecanto, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Forest put the hurt on Lecanto with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Reagan Quinn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Quinn was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other pitching news, Makenna Boyd looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She also tossed a walk, marking her first of the season.
Back at the plate, Forest got a massive performance out of Rilynn Fountain, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Fountain has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaiden Prestipino also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Buchholz hadn't done well against Chiles recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Buchholz had just enough and edged out Chiles 10-9. While the Bobcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Buchholz let Jordyn Cooper and Quaniyah Robinson run wild. Cooper scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Robinson went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Cooper is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Leila Ricks was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Buchholz was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Buchholz's record now sits at 5-1. As for Forest, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Forest took their victory against Buchholz when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forest since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
