The Regis Rams will take on the Santiam Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Regis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.7 runs per game this season.
Regis took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Kennedy 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since May 9, 2024.
Addie Bishop made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Wagner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Olivia Adams, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santiam). They put the hurt on Central Linn with a sharp 25-6 win on Friday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Cobras recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Lindsey Briley and Aubrey Ohrt did most of the damage at the plate: Briley went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs, while Ohrt got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those three hits gave Briley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Allen, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Santiam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .618 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Regis pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Santiam, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Santiam's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Regis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. It's a different story for Santiam, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Regis' hitters?
Regis might still be hurting after the 15-3 defeat they got from Santiam in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
