The Gouverneur Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Saranac Lake 64-43. Winning may never get old, but Gouverneur sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading Gouverneur to victory were Jared Donaldson and Raine Rumble. Donaldson scored 21 points, while Rumble scored 23 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Rumble has scored at least 25% of Gouverneur's points. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Platt, who scored seven points.
Saranac Lake's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Caleb Akey and Mik Denkenberger. Akey scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Denkenberger scored eight points along with six rebounds. The contest was Akey's sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Gouverneur has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Saranac Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Gouverneur's road trip will continue as they head out to face Canton at 6:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Canton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gouverneur in New York (Canton is ranked 90th, while Gouverneur is ranked 385th).
