The North Park Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They blew past Weldon Valley 66-33 on the road. North Park's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
North Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Pittington, who scored 24 points. The matchup was Pittington's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Graham Cornelison was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Weldon Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of August Filter, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Camron Rodriguez who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him.
Weldon Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Park pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
North Park's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-4. As for Weldon Valley, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
North Park will be staying on the road on January 5, 2024 to face off against Little Snake River at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Weldon Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moffat at 2:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
