The Tempe Buffaloes won the last time they faced the Apache Junction Prospectors, and things went their way on Friday too. Tempe walked away with a 60-49 victory over Apache Junction. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tempe.
Tempe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nassir Cobbs, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Cobbs hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Irizarry-Navarro, who scored 16 points.
Several Prospectors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Castro, who scored 15 points. Omar Adam was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Tempe's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Apache Junction, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
Tempe will head out on the road to square off against Dysart at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Dysart's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 16 matchups. As for Apache Junction, Apache Junction and Coronado will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
