Evergreen Park is 0-10 against Oak Forest since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Mustangs will host the Bengals at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Evergreen Park made easy work of Thornton Fractional North and carried off a 19-1 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Meteors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Aramis Campos looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Evergreen Park got a massive performance out of Carlos Flores, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadyn Kummer, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while Oak Forest put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Hillcrest. The Bengals blew past the Hawks 13-0. The win was familiar territory for the Bengals, who have now won seven matches in a row.
Justin Gibbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Bryce Hoffman looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Oak Forest let Vince Weber and Kevin Sullivan run wild. Weber went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sullivan went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Weber has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gage Tokarz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Oak Forest pushed their record up to 9-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen Park, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.
