The Dorchester Academy Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 74-40 loss at the hands of Cathedral Academy. While losing is never fun, Dorchester Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Cathedral Academy is ranked 105th).
Cathedral Academy was led to victory by Ajani Gresham and Bryce Ward. Gresham scored 25 points along with eight rebounds, while Ward scored 26 points along with six steals. Josh Simmons was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Dorchester Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Cathedral Academy, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8.
Dorchester Academy and Clarendon Hall will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Dorchester Academy is facing Clarendon Hall at the right time seeing as Clarendon Hall is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Cathedral Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge St. John's Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. John's Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
