The California Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the West Greene Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Vincent Manzella and Lane Allison.
California suffered their biggest loss since December 18, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Carrick, falling 72-42.
Despite their loss, California saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Ziolecki, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jahiem Derns, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, West Greene waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Monessen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory West Greene has posted yet this season.
California's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for West Greene, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
California skirted past West Greene 66-63 when the teams last played on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for California since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
