Even though the Valley Vikings scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, the Timnath Cubs still came out on top. Timnath walked away with a 69-61 win over Valley. With that win, Timnath brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Timnath's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Hamlin, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Roselle, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Aidan Brownell, who scored 26 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Brownell continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Timnath's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Timnath will head out on the road to square off against Platte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Strasburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Valley in Colorado (Strasburg is ranked 52nd, while Valley is ranked 311th).
