VISTA, Calif. - the Lancers scored 21 points in the second quarter to secure a big 35-0 victory over Vista (Calif.) on Saturday.
Carlsbad scored on a touchdown catch by
Leo Marin Jr., a touchdown catch by
Evan Gaspari and a touchdown run by
Aaryn Dorsett in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Shawn Cameron touchdown run in the first quarter, CHS led 28-0 at the half.
The Lancers expanded their lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. Carlsbad's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown catch by
Christian Chapman.
Cameron was the top performer for CHS. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
The Lancers entered the contest giving up 22.2 points per game this year. Carlsbad held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Panthers below the 5.2 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory will ease some of the sting of CHS's close 31-28 loss to Vista last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Lancers, which was coming off a 35-13 defeat at the hands of Poway in its previous game.
