The Maxwell Wildcats will be playing at home against the Wallace Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Maxwell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 54-35 bruising from Perkins County. Maxwell has not had much luck with the Plainsmen recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madelyn Flock, who scored six points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristyn Cheek, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wallace struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wallace fell 47-40 to the Eagles.
Wallace might have lost, but man, Ashley Robertson was a machine: she scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaley Sauser, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Maxwell has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Wallace, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Maxwell have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wallace struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Maxwell came up short against the Wildcats in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 41-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wallace's Kendyl Flaming, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Now that Maxwell knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
