Sunnyside has gone 7-1 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Sunnyside Blue Devils will challenge the Mountain View Mountain Lions at 10:30 a.m. Sunnyside will be strutting in after a victory while Mountain View will be coming in after a defeat.
Sunnyside will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Canyon del Oro, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Sunnyside walked away with a 5-1 win over Canyon del Oro on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.
SABINO GONZALEZ was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. GONZALEZ was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MICHEL MUNIZ, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Yuma. The contest marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Mountain View saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Benjamin Cleveland, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sunnyside, their record is now 6-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sunnyside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Sunnyside's way against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Sunnyside made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sunnyside since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
