Shelby-Rising City is a perfect 3-0 against Mead since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Shelby-Rising City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Mead likes a good challenge.
Shelby-Rising City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Centennial 84-8. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Huskies' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Broncos are ranked 133rd).

Shelby-Rising City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carter Eickmeier led the charge by rushing for 146 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. With that strong performance, Eickmeier is now averaging an impressive 102 rushing yards per game. Dayne Neujahr was in the mix too, providing Shelby-Rising City with two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shelby-Rising City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Shelby-Rising City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Eli Fjell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Mead after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was East Butler who ended up claiming the real prize. The game between the Raiders and the Tigers didn't end well, with the Raiders falling 40-26. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Defeat or not, Mead got some senior leadership from Mason Reed and Tony Engel. Reed threw for 254 yards and three TDs, while Engel picked up 119 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 119 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Engel.
Mead didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Abram Lee and Preston Price. Another thorn in East Butler's side was Brady Gartner, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Shelby-Rising City's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Mead, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Logan Lindsley and Reed. Lindsley just won't slow down this season and has thrown 7 touchdowns (and no picks) while averaging 44.3 passing yards per game. Reed has been a dominant force too and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 163.8 passing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Shelby-Rising City against Mead in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
