Cor Jesu Academy was the 3-0 winner over Lee's Summit North when they last played one another back in September of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Chargers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Lauren Ortwerth paced Cor Jesu Academy's offense, picking up 11 kills. Ortwerth got some help from Grace Downen and her 11 assists. Ginnie Normile and Cece Yehling kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Lee's Summit North can attribute much of their success to Madilynn Benne, who had 13 digs and two aces. What's more, Benne posted five assists, the most she's had over her last five games.

Cor Jesu Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Lee's Summit North, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.

Cor Jesu Academy has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against St. Teresa's Academy on the 13th. As for Lee's Summit North, they will challenge Lee's Summit at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
