The Laney Wildcats won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Westside, falling 103-56. Laney has struggled against Westside recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Goss, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goss has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of DeMarco Middleton, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and five steals.
Laney's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Westside, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.
Laney will be playing in front of their home fans against Putnam County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Putnam County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 games -- so hopefully Laney likes a good challenge. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against Josey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Josey comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
