This season hasn't been kind to the Union Spartans, who are still winless after their fourth game. They took a serious blow against Jones on Friday, falling 69-37. While losing is never fun, Union can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Jones is ranked 116th).
Jones had a senior duo take command as Keonte' Roberts dropped a double-double on 22 points and 10 steals and Gabriel Butler scored 21 points along with 4 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Butler has scored at least 25% of Jones' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gjamarion Burris, who scored 6 points along with 12 rebounds.
Union's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Jones, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union will face off against Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jones, they will head out on the road to face off against North Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Duplin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
