The Casa Grande Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Buena Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Casa Grande is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, it was close, but Casa Grande sidestepped Flowing Wells for a 6-5 victory. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.
Matt Villa was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calaeus Perales, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Buena waltzed into their game on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Badgers.
Aidan Barrett was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bryson Haymore, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Buena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tucson High Magnet School only posted a batting average of .241.
Buena's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Casa Grande hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Buena struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
